Going to and from the airports

Flights from Adelaide

On the eastern shores of Gulf St. Vincent lies Adelaide Airport, Australia's 5th busiest airport. By the end of 2016 it had been used by over 8 million passengers that year. In the same year, it received an Australian Airports Association Award for "Airport Innovation and Excellence - Technology".

Adelaide Airport handles domestic, regional, international and charter flights, including flights from Adelaide to Sydney. It has one terminal that has recently been upgraded and now features scheduled art displays, events and exhibitions. It also contains newly refurbished retail stores, dining areas and lounges. Passengers are free to make use of the complimentary Wi-Fi.

Directions to Adelaide airport

Adelaide Airport is adjacent to West Beach, 6 km from the CBD. One of the most convenient ways to get to the airport is by taking the JetExpress–an express double decker bus run by Adelaide Metro. Tickets can be bought from the bus driver.

The Northern Flyer and Adelaide Airport Flyer both offer door-to-door shuttle service to the airport, however these need to be pre-booked in advance. Another alternative is to just take a taxi. This is useful as you can hail a cab from wherever you are and ride comfortably straight to the airport.

Reaching Sydney

Sydney's star attraction is the Opera House–known for its fame, distinctive architecture and the variety of world-class performances held in its halls. Take a short scenic walk to the Royal Botanic Gardens where you can explore beautiful themed grounds then spend some down time at a cafe or restaurant. The Art Gallery of New South Wales is one of the most distinguished museums in Australia, housing a large collection of aboriginal art among other things.

After you can head on over to Darling Harbour for endless restaurants, shops, museums and activities. The precinct hosts Wild Life Sydney Zoo, the Sea Life Aquarium, Powerhouse Museum, Australian National Maritime Museum and Madame Tussauds.

Getting to the city center

Flights to Sydney from South Australia land at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, which is only 8 km from the city centre. You'll arrive at either of its two domestic terminals depending on which airline you use. Bus stops are located outside the arrivals level of both terminals. From there you can take a bus straight to the city. Shuttles are also available from the ground transport travel desks at the arrivals lounge of T2. To be safe, you can also pre-book this service in advance. Another way to get to Sydney's central business district is by taking a train from the station between T2 and T3 to the city.
