Airports in Johannesburg
The O.R. Tambo International Airport is the busiest in the country and serves passengers travelling to and from Johannesburg. It handles more than 18 million domestic and international passengers per year and is as an operating centre for South African Airways. The most incredible thing about this airport is that it offers non-stop flights to all six continents in the world.
The airport is approximately 24 km away from the city centre.
Transportation
There's a rail transit station at the airport that connects passengers from both terminals to the Sandton area. These trains run nearly 90 trips a day. Those hiring a car or using their private vehicles can reach the airport via the R24 and R21 highways. Passengers will also find both public and private bus services that operate between the airport and the city centre. Apart from these options there are car rental offices located within the airport.
