Going to and from the airports

Flights from Sydney

Sydney is the stylish state capital of New South Wales–a natural beauty filled with man-made attractions. Located in Mascot suburb, Sydney Airport is the primary international gateway to the city. The airport operates flights to and from the rest of the continent and the world, including Thailand, Japan, China, South Korea, Philippines, India, USA, Hong Kong, Canada and South Africa.

Also available are flights to Australia's neighbouring country New Zealand, with direct flights from Sydney to Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington. Sydney Airport houses three passenger terminals; namely T1 (international), T2 (domestic) and T3 (domestic).

Directions to Sydney airport

Sydney airport is situated some 8 km from the central business district. That's just one short taxi ride away. Local buses operate daily scheduled services between Burwood to Bondi Junction (Route 400) with limited stops, which include terminals 1 and 3 of Sydney Airport. Airport Link provides a train service between the city to the domestic terminal train station and international terminal train station at the airport.

The international terminal building is located separately from the domestic terminal building. Should there be a need to travel between the two, options include shuttle bus (T-Bus), train or taxi. Qantas and Virgin Australia both offer seamless transfers for their guests.

Reaching Auckland

Auckland, also known by its M?ori name Tamaki Makaurau, is a city where a huge variety of cultures thrive, as demonstrated by their diverse restaurant scene. The SKYCITY entertainment complex in particular is a great place to dine, not only for its choices of cafes and restaurants, but also because it hosts the Sky Tower. Here you can eat out in a revolving restaurant that offers stunning panoramic views of the city. While you're there, you might also want to try bungee jumping off the city's tallest building for an adrenalin rush like no other. The dazzling Waitemata Harbour, tranquil Albert Park and the Waitomo Glowworm Caves are other top-rated attractions in Auckland.

Getting to the city center

Sydney to Auckland flights land in Auckland Airport, New Zealand's largest and busiest airport. Only taxis from licensed companies are allowed to collect you from the airport, specifically from the taxi ranks outside the arrivals area of the international terminal. SkyBus runs two bus routes–one via Mt. Eden Road and another via Dominion Road, serving areas en route. Tickets for these can be purchased at the ticket kiosks by the airport bus stop. They can also be bought directly from the driver. In addition to these transport options, the 380 Airporter links the airport with the city centre.
