The sole airport serving the city is the Darwin International Airport, which operates cheap flights from Darwin to Brisbane. Both domestic and international departures operate from a single building. The terminal is open 24/7 and offers various dining and shopping options for travellers awaiting departure.
Directions to Darwin airport
The Darwin International Airport is located in the suburb of Marrara, approximately 8 km from the city centre. There is a public bus service (Bus route 3) that runs from the Casuarina Interchange in the Northern suburbs of Darwin to the airport. Take a cab from anywhere to get to the airport, or if you're in the mood to be fancy, book a chauffeur transfer and arrive in a limousine. The Darwin Airport Shuttle operates between the airport and the central business district. The buses are air-conditioned and offer an all day long pick-up service.
Reaching Brisbane
The capital of Queensland offers an abundance of fun outside activities you can enjoy for free. Hop on the CityHopper ferry for a picturesque ride through the Brisbane River you'll never forget. Witness stunning views of the city from the lookout on top of Mt Coot-Tha. While you're there, take a relaxing stroll through the Mt Coot-Tha Botanic Gardens to enjoy the sun and nature.
Brisbane's cultural attractions are clustered around the South Bank cultural precinct, which include the Queensland Museum, Queensland Art Gallery and Queensland Performing Arts Centre. As for the beaches, favourite destinations include Coolangatta Beach, Noosa Main Beach, Kurrawa Beach and Surfers Paradise Beach.
Getting to the city center
Travelling from Darwin to Brisbane will have you arriving at the Brisbane Airport, some 12 km from the central business district. Free transfers between the two passenger terminals and Skygate are provided by the orange transfer bus. For fast and convenient transport to the city or the Gold Coast you can take the Airtrain, where there's very easy to spot signage that will make it easy for you to get to the stations. Rather take a cab? There are taxi ranks located in front of the domestic terminal and at the northern end of the international terminal's arrivals area on Level 2.
