High Season
From around March to August, Da Nang basks in its dry season, marked by consistently clear skies and warm temperatures averaging 28-35°C. The city buzzes with energy, as the sun-drenched beaches along My Khe fill with swimmers and sunbathers. Upon arrival, you'll immediately notice a vibrant atmosphere, with outdoor activities dominating the daily rhythm. Locals embrace the long, bright days, and seafood restaurants spill onto pavements. This is when Da Nang truly shines as a coastal destination, with the warmer weather inviting exploration of its outdoor attractions and a lively social scene extending into the evenings.
The high season also brings with it major events, such as the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFC), usually held in June. This spectacular display transforms the Han Riverfront into a buzzing hub, attracting crowds and adding a festive flair to the city. The warmer, drier conditions are ideal for exploring Marble Mountains or taking a boat trip along the river. Da Nang’s identity as a dynamic, sun-soaked city for both relaxation and adventure is most apparent during these months, offering a lively and energetic experience for everyone.
Low Season
Da Nang's low season typically runs from September to February, characterised by cooler temperatures, often around 19-25°C, and increased rainfall. The northeast monsoon brings a different feel to the city, with occasional downpours, especially from October to November. While still accessible, the city adopts a calmer pace. Upon landing, the air might feel fresher and cooler, and the streets less congested. Many beach activities slow down, and the focus shifts indoors or to less weather-dependent attractions.
Despite the rain, the low season offers a chance to experience a more tranquil side of Da Nang. The cooler weather is comfortable for exploring temples, museums, and local markets without the intense heat. While major outdoor festivals are less frequent, local holidays like Tết (Lunar New Year), usually in late January or February, bring unique cultural celebrations to the city, offering a glimpse into local traditions. This season showcases Da Nang as a relaxed city, perfect for cultural immersion and enjoying its local charm away from the peak tourist rush.
