Flights from Brisbane

Queensland's beloved capital Brisbane hosts the airport ranking third in the highest number of domestic connections in Australia–Brisbane Airport. In 2016, it won many awards such as Australasia's Leading Airport in the 23rd World Travel Awards, and The Great Transformation in Airport Food and Beverage Award in FAB 2016. In early 2017, it was listed in the Top 20 World Airports compilation by International Airport Review.

Brisbane Airport has two passenger terminals (the domestic and international terminals), a cargo terminal and also a general aviation terminal. As previously mentioned, the airport offers plenty of routes all over the country including flights from Brisbane to Melbourne.

Directions to Brisbane airport

Getting from Brisbane's central business district to the airport is easy thanks to the available transportation options in the city. Check if your starting point is in or near a designated Con-X-ion pick-up zone. If it is you can book a transfer to the airport. Even if it isn't, it's still worth checking if there's a Con-X-ion pick-up point nearby as this is a very convenient transport option. Black Bow Chauffeur also provides luxurious airport transfers via chauffeured limousines. Other than that, Airtrain operates fast, affordable and frequent service from the city to the airport. Taxis can take you to the airport as well.

Reaching Melbourne

Melbourne is a fantastic city with year-round attractions and world-class dining. As Victoria's state capital it hosts the National Gallery of Victoria–home of over 68,000 works of art. The Block Arcade on Collins Street is a 19th century-shopping arcade worth exploring for its mosaic floor, glass canopy, quirky boutiques and quaint cafes. Other noteworthy cafes can be found on the Southbank promenade, where there's also live entertainment, the Arts Centre and an arts and crafts market on Sundays. As a sports-loving city, Melbourne is also known for one of the greatest arenas in the world–Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Getting to the city center

Flights to Melbourne arrive at Melbourne Airport, 23 km from the city centre. Once you're ready to leave the airport proceed to the transport hub located at the terminal 4 carpark. SmartBus also offers several routes that run between the airport and the city. These are 478, 479, 482 and 901.

Two express bus services are run by Skybus, connecting the airport to St. Kilda and Southern Cross Station in Melbourne City. From there Skybus operates a complimentary hotel transfer service, although this is during limited hours and subject to availability. Other buses that operate throughout Victoria are available from here as well.

It was just the gate change that really threw me. There must be a better way to let us know than those voice announcements that older people (like me) can't hear.

Clean all services required were available. The flight departure gate could have been allocated earlier.
