Flights from Melbourne
Melbourne has always been a prime destination for holidays and vacations on the Australian continent. Melbourne Airport is proof of this fact. In December 2016 alone, 3.1 million commuters passed through this portal making it the busiest month of the facility for that year.
International and domestic flights are serviced daily during a full 24-hour operating schedule without curfew. Terminals T1, T3 and T4 are designated for domestic routes including flights from Melbourne to Hobart while T2 is specifically for international routes. Travellers are directed to a single precinct area connected by all four terminals.
Directions to Melbourne airport
Public buses roam around certain points in Melbourne and can take people in and out of the airport. SkyBus transports to Melbourne City and operates on a 24/7 schedule, which you can wave down even on public holidays. SkyBus St. Kilda on the other hand only drives from 6AM to 7PM daily.
If you prefer to have your own vehicle, several car rentals companies within the airport can be contacted for trips from outside of Australia. Ground levels of terminals T1, T2 and T3 have information booths to assist travellers. In addition, there are assigned taxi ranks found in each terminal of the airport.
Reaching Hobart
Hidden at the foothills of Mt. Wellington rests the serene city of Hobart. With mountainous backdrops and waterfront views, Hobart prides itself on award-winning dining experiences. Whisky and locally craft beers are also staples of the picturesque pubs that complement the perfect getaway. Be sure to spend a Saturday in Salamanca Market and go around the 300 stalls perusing eclectic Tasmanian arts and crafts. A Hobart trip wouldn't be complete without bearing witness to the city's merriment. A quick drive up the 1,300 metre Mt. Wellington from the city centre is where a peaceful escape awaits you.
Getting to the city center
Hobart International Airport has mobile services for all types of passengers. Shuttle buses like the Redline Airporter are parked outside the terminals waiting to drive you straight to your hotel. You can also be transported around Hobart city by taxis that are lined up in front of the airport.
If you prefer to explore this wonderful city intimately with friends or family, a car rental service is the right choice for you. Several car hire companies offer cars, campervans and motor homes, which you can book in the airport's centralised arrival area. Keep in mind that Hobart practices left-hand side driving.
