The only airport in the city is Santorini (Thira) International Airport located near Kamari village. It operates a number of airlines throughout the seasons and is also used as a military and civil airport. It's estimated to deal with about 400,000 passengers per year. The local bus system is the only means of public transport, with shuttles and pre-booked transfers taking private travellers. Passengers can book mini-vans, a sedan or private chauffeurs to get to their destinations early and on time. Pre-booked rides are preferred over public transport due to their comfort and low costs.
