Flights from Auckland

Auckland not only holds the title as the largest metropolitan area in New Zealand and Polynesia, but also contains the country's largest and busiest airport–Auckland Airport. Over 10 million passengers from all over the world arrive and depart from this airport annually. Operating both domestic and international flights, it houses two terminals aptly called the international and domestic terminals. The former is open 24/7 while the latter has scheduled operating hours.

Auckland Airport has won many awards, including being named the overall winner at the Routes Asia Marketing Awards in 2016. It is also regularly recognised as the top airport in the Asia Pacific Region at the SKYTRAX World Airport Awards.

Directions to Auckland airport

Auckland Airport lies approximately 21 km south of the Auckland city centre. Intercity provides hassle-free direct bus services (with Wi-Fi) to and from the airport. These leave from a number of locations including but not limited to Hamilton, Gisborne, Palmerston North, Whangarei, Wellington and New Plymouth. SkyBus also provides a transfer service with two routes that run 24/7.

You can also choose to arrive by train from the Southern, Eastern or Onehunga Lines to Papatoetoe train. From there you can take the 380 Airporter bus, which will take you to the airport. Several taxi and shuttle companies allow pre-booked pick-up and drop-off services.

Reaching Melbourne

Consistently topping the charts for the most liveable city in the world, Melbourne has plenty to be proud of. Bars and pubs feature live music by up-and-coming performers, and the arts scene is alive and kicking as evidenced by the numerous galleries and museums. Are you a sports fan? You're going to enjoy visiting some of the city's stadiums and parks where you can watch sport and entertainment events.

Its location in the Port Phillip Bay makes Melbourne a fantastic holiday destination for water sports, swimming and even just relaxing on the shore. From Melbourne you'll have access to all the world-class wineries of Victoria as well.

Getting to the city center

Flights from Auckland to Melbourne arrive at Melbourne Airport, roughly 23 km from the state capital's city centre.
